Our Story
OPTIC Resources started as a mission of hope, combatting the rapid rise of mental health concerns plaguing our communities.
Rachelle Coffey, a psychotherapist and longtime social justice advocate, opened what she dreams to be the first of many mental health community centers in October of 2021 in response to the unaddressed collective trauma that our communities are continuing to experience.
Today, our four-member board of directors is continuously looking for ways to bring education and healing to the public in ways that impact longterm growth and equality.
βThe 2021 State of Mental Health in America report confirms the trend that mental health in the U.S. continues to get worse and many states are ill-prepared to handle this crisis and policymakers at every level of government need to act immediately.β - MHA
OPTIC stands for On Purpose Trauma-informed Care, meaning we stand for a purpose; a passion to heal by teaching others how to do it for themselves. The OPTIC model identifies three ways to build our communities:
through the individuals and families
the community leaders, advocates and healthcare practitioners
the local businesses and governing agencies that make up the infrastructure of our communities.
OPTIC Resources strives to eliminate the stigma attached to mental health so that we can begin to identify and treat the toxic stressors and lack of support that is devastating our overall wellness.
It's time to heal our communities.
